Experience
While working on my Master's Degree in Ecology, I worked as a tutor and success coach, teaching environmental studies at a two-year career college, and later as a teaching assistant in the Biology department. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Cleveland University in Biology, and minored in chemistry and physics. After that, from August 2012 to May 2013, I taught for Bowling Green State University's Department of Environment and Sustainability, teaching introductory environmental studies, environmental field and laboratory methods, and environmental field experiences. I consider myself to be extremely fortunate, having both research and teaching experience. I find scientific research to be amazing experience; and try to share with my students when possible. Hands-on learning is my preferred teaching method and why I get my students out in the field as often as possible. Students need more than the fundamentals of each course. Teaching content is important, but understanding context can be critical. Beyond that, I understand the pressures that today's students face. Science can be a difficult course; especially when also working at jobs and taking care of families.
